I had to chuckle the other day. We had an order for a personalised blanket with the name ‘Aveline Marie’ embroidered onto it. I thought, seeing the name on a baby pink blanket what a pretty name it is. I cannot  recollect ever making a blanket with that name but we really are seeing a come back of old fashioned names.

‘Aveline’, a french name descended from the Old German Availa, itself a variant of Avis, it was among the many historical names revived in the nineteenth century, but for me I’m afraid all I can think about is the TV series ‘Bread’.

Here at Mr Mole Blankets we embroider names onto blankets all day long, we see all sorts of names, traditional names, foreign names, American names, names that have been invented by mothers but more recently the ‘Oldies’ have been making a big comeback. Names like Elsie, Eva, Norah, Albert, Reginald, Hettie, Stanley and Betty. It just seems a little odd peeping in to a pram to see a new born baby called ‘Reginald’!!!

Anyway, I don’t know how many of you watched Bread all those years ago but we loved it and we loved Aveline even though she was a floozy!!!!
